WINTER HAVEN - The whitewashed timbers don't look like much lying in a heap, but wait a few more weeks and they'll look plenty familiar to roller-coaster enthusiasts and visitors who remember the now-closed Miracle Strip in Panama City Beach. The Sentinel has just done a story on it, too, and here is the best of that: With a peak of 60ft and 2,640ft long, it will be a great fit for CG and give them a real landmark attraction, in addition to their current impressive range of rides and gardens (and free water park!). It will dwarf all their other rides, including their existing wodden coaster, the Triple Hurricane. It is being rebuilt in faithful detail and is likely to be open by mid-late June. ![]() The Starliner is an old-style (1963) wooden coaster that was salvaged from the defunct Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach, Florida, last year. Having just been back to do some up-dates at Cypress Gardens, it is fascinating to see their 'new' coaster taking shape. ![]()
